Girl Scout Troop Robbed While Selling Cookies [Video]

Surveillance video from a Fort Worth, Texas, Walmart shows a young male robbing a Girl Scout troop who had set up a table outside the Walmart to raise funds by selling Girl Scout cookies.

The video shows the man walking by the green cloth-covered table and swiping the bag with the day’s proceeds, then darting off into the parking lot. The girl at the table and her mother were in utter shock when the theft happened.

The Fort Worth Police Department said, after the February 11 incident, which occurred at about 2 in the afternoon, that it was investigating the case and looking for the suspect. The thief apparently stole about $450 in Girl Scout cookie proceeds.

In its post on X about the robbery, the Fort Worth Police Department said, “The Fort Worth Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying one suspect wanted for theft. On Sunday, February 11 at approximately 2:00 p.m. near the entrance of Walmart located at 9500 Clifford St., a suspect walked past a Girl Scout cookie stand, reached behind their table, took the bag containing cash earnings from the day, and fled into the parking lot.”

Continuing, the department gave a description of the suspect and asked for help from the public in cracking the case, saying, “The suspect is described as black male, 18-24 years old, wearing a grey hoodie and black beanie. Photo to follow. If you have any information regarding these suspects, please call Detective C. Magallon at 817-392-4837.”

Officer Brad Perez of the Fort Worth Police Department, speaking about the horrible nature of the incident, said, “We are talking about a little girl here. A little girl trying to sell Girl Scout cookies.” Continuing, Perez said, “Around $450 in cash is what was stolen. There have people reaching out to the detective to see how they can help.”

FOX 4, reporting on the incident, said that the grandmother of a girl in a different Girl Scout troop who was selling cookies elsewhere in the city. That grandma said she was emotional after watching the video of the theft, saying, “It almost made me cry. Because it’s hard work, they work hard for this.”

Continuing, she added that this is her granddaughter’s third year selling Girl Scout cookies and that she has to keep the money hidden and not let her guard down to prevent such thefts. Speaking on how it teaches the young girls the hard lesson that many people are not honest, she said, “You trust everyone. Girl Scouts trust everyone and Girl Scouts are honest, and they think everyone is, but it’s a hard lesson learned.”
